Ashley Everette wears the Shakti Dress

I was so thrilled when I was introduced to the incredible Ashley Everett to do a women’s empowerment collaboration. Ashley is the amazing dance captain for Queen Beyonce herself. She can be seen performing alongside Beyonce for her videos of “Single Ladies,” “Formation,” and “Homecoming” just to name a few. Her resume is star-studded with features on projects for Usher, Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, Tina Turner, and countless others. More than that, Ashley is a beautiful passionate artist with a heart to support other women.

I am so excited to debut the Shakti Dress which was inspired by Beyonce’s visual album “Black is King”. “Black is King” is an incredible work of art that left me feeling empowered by the messages in the songs such as “They’ll never take my power” and “Step out your estimate, step in your essence”. It was also a visually stunning film that honors black beauty and African art. I watched “Black is king” on repeat while designing the Shakti Dress and it feels like a divine appointment that Ashley would wear it.

Thanks to the brilliant publicist, Randy Bonds, we were able to coordinate a beautiful sunrise shoot with photography by the incomparable Cecile Boko. Cecile’s stunning photography style combined with Ashley’s dance-influenced modeling was pure magic in the light of sunrise.
